White Tea

The spring and summer pickings of Sakhejung is very popular for its special White Teas. Only the subtle and clean buds with an unopened leaf are harvested, while the white tea is processed. The picking time is meticulously monitored as the glistening buds needs to acquire enough pubescence (hairs). More pubescence means more characteristically a white tea. Popularly more herb than a tea, white tea from Sakhejung is accepted as a delicate brew that reflects the character of the place itself-tranquil and subtle.

In Sakhejung, when the tea bushes starts to sprout its first buds in the spring and the summer the white teas are picked. Only select fields from select bushes produce white teas and select tea makers have perfected the art of making white teas, that's why these teas are exceptional. The white teas of Sakhejung are expertly crafted with an elegant and gentle finish while it reaches the cup.

Drying of White teas is meticulously monitored by experienced tea makers of Sakhejung- it is usually dried slowly so as to retain the catechins. White tea is natural form of tea with rich antioxidants. The white teas of Sakhejung have a comfortable mellow taste which melts in the mouth and a sweet vegetal finish.


White Tea Verities

Brewing Suggestion:
Leaf: 3-4 grams per cup
Temperature: Cool after boiling 80-85° C.
Steeping Time: 2 minutes-1st steep; 2 minutes-2nd steep; 3 minutes-3rd steep.
